I'm Sarah Rishell, from DuBois, which is in Western Pennsylvania. After graduating from the DuBois Area High School in 2005, I chose to attend Lock Haven University, eventually deciding on a spot in the Secondary Education-Social Studies department. History has always been my favorite topic of discussion, and I hope to encourage the same passion in my students.
I have minimal experience with technology. I know how to make a Power Point (which I've done for many classes), use Microsoft Word and do research through the internet. I hope this class will make me more confident and competent in using technology because I think it is an important tool in the classroom. Students should have the opportunity to learn about a topic from more than just a plain textbook. I want to be able to show them videos off the internet, and maybe even give them a chance to blog like we are doing in this class. I think it is also important that they learn to use technology for their everyday lives.
